PATIENT’S RIGHTS
As a patient, you should know your rights under the Mental Health Act 2001 and Mental Health Policy 2010 as follows:

- Your right to know the reason for admission to the hospital
- Your right to know the way of discharge, leaves or transfer to another hospital
- Your right to know about your illness and treatment plans
- Your right to know that all the information about yourself and your illness are private and confidential.
- Your right for your privacy to be respected and protected
- Your right to have an appropriate accommodation while in the hospital
- Your rights to perform appropriate leisure activities
- Your right to practice your gender identity
- Your right to practice your religious belief
- Your right to communicate with people outside the hospital
- Your right to have a visitor
- Your right to have a second psychiatrist opinion
- Your right to obtain legal assistance
- Your right to plead to the Hospital Director (Medical), Board of Visitors or the General Director of Health, Malaysia for release
